About

Ana Beiriger is a scientist and artist with a passion for visual storytelling. Before starting her career in medical illustration, she spent a decade looking down microscopes at various research institutes. While working in the lab, Ana discovered a love for communicating science through visual media, and got to see the impact of art and design on patient education in her volunteer work at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Her extensive background as a scientific researcher allows her to represent complex anatomical, cellular, and molecular information with accuracy. Ana thrives on creating clear narratives and compelling visuals that bring science off the page (or spreadsheet) and into the hearts and minds of people. Her expertise encompasses graphic design, illustration, storyboarding, animation, and 3D modeling.

Ana has a doctorate in developmental biology from the University of Chicago, and studied biomedical visualization at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Outside of work, she can be found wherever there is good coffee, live music, or a long backpacking trail.
